Baby Seals, Orange Weddings and Armadillos
Thanks to all our fans who made it out to our Friday night show at the Blackbox theater, it was a great way to kickoff the weekend!
We had a lot of returning fans, and a bunch of new folks there as well, a huge thanks to some of our stalkers fans who keep introducing new people to our style of improv comedy in Dallas!
We debuted a brand new structure this show, Expert Panel, which got lots of laughs and some great audience suggestions – we are excited to see it evolve as we hone this new piece and our fans come up with even more outrageous ideas! (If you were not there, you missed a very special baby seal update from Beavis)!
The structures we covered in the shows were:
- Try that on for Size – Some fast paced miming action – tons of fun, and huge hit with the crowds!
- Expert Panel – Our round table of special authorities gives their unique perspectives on modern issues and topics brought up by our audience! MPIII premier of this new game.
- Slideshow – Bill narrates and captions hilarious ’still life’ scenes from a fictitious vacation, while the clueless actors practice their speed contortion skills.
- Pan Left/Pan Right – Rotating pairs of performers gave their own versions of the immortal classic: Green Eggs and Ham. In the styles of : Romance, Shakespeare, Journey to the Center of the earth and reality show.
- Evil Twin – Watch out when the darker side comes out in this switching personality structure!
- Three Things – an amazing roller coaster of intense laughs showcasing some of the most creative performers outside of an asylum. A huge crowd hit.
- Short Scenes – This is a newer offering for MPIII, feating no-holds barred improv based off audience input – could be funny, could be dramatic, probably surreal – regardless – a HUGE hit with the crowds AND performers.
- Add to/Take Away – This rarely performed MPIII and crowd favorite returns: short scenes based off creative interpretation of an audience suggestion.
- Longform Montage – Get a word and go! Another new offering by MPIII, this is improv approaching an art form – from cruel orange juice to creamsicle weddings, this was made of awesome.
- Worlds Worst – One of MPIII’s signature games – combine creativity, wit, and an ocassional total lack of class – and you have this comic monster where they players give totally inapproiate examples of people to encounter in various audience supplied circumstances. And now, for the politically incorrect portion of our show…
Overall the show was a big hit – thanks to all our new fans friends we had a great night with!
Also, on the “laugh till you pee meter” while we had no confirmed reports of laughter induced bladder busting, we did have two admissions of “OMG I laughed so hard I almost wet myself!”.
Leave us a reply to let us know what your favorite games were (or the ones you can’t wait for in our next show). Heck, even drop some suggestions below…we will use’em somewhere.
Our upcoming improv comedy shows in the Dallas / Ft.Worth Area:
- With Dallas Comedy House on Wednesday October 21st at Ozona’s Bar and Grill!
- After that come see us in our “Tired of Turkey?” show, Friday November 27th!
Until next time,

Roxanne is amazin’. Just sayin’.
Why do I feel like I’m cheating on you guys if I go see another improve comedy act?
Sneaking in the door….not making eye contact with anyone…. sitting off to the side. I have issues….don’t I?
Heh….
Well, we all get around you know…
Seriously, we want folks to see as MANY improv (and comedy) groups as they can, the more the better! There are a ton of great groups out there, and lots of talented performers. See as many as you can, many of them run different types of shows, and we think its great if folks are supporting DFW comedy!
Of course, if its a night we are playing…..
